Scraplift Challenge #3

Ok, sorry, I'm late with this..."Germany"-Jen, I know you've been waiting patiently across the ocean for this challenge. Ok, it's not really a what, but a "who". There's really not a sketch to follow, although I will post the picture of the one that did inspire me to make the layout (to the left). The "who" is your spouse...I know, I know, "but I barely have time to scrapbook my kids". Well guess what? Your kids need to know about their Dad too...not just about themselves! They are living everything that you are scrapbooking about them...your kids need to know you, and they need to know their parents and how they feel about one another, how you met, etc... what spawned this for me, is that I have one picture of my Father. Only one. It's a tiny wallet picture taken in 1980. My parents divorced when I was 5 and I saw my father last about age 9 or 10. I can't actually remember. My mother kept him from visiting me, and in 1986 he died rather tragically and expectantly. I saw him next at his funeral. I cried for someone I never knew. I cried for something lost, something I never had. I would love to have a scrapbook page about my father, better yet, a scrapbook page about what my mother liked/loved about my father. I'd like to think that there was a time when she liked something about him, that I actually was conceived in love, not out of the hate and resentment that I heard about my entire childhood. So, I made this layout about my hubby. It goes in our chronological family album, which one day will be Hannah's. It's not a long, mushy, drawn out love letter to him, but a statement to her; solidifying what she sees every day; that is, that I love him and that because of who he is, we are the family that we are,( even when he makes me crazy)). So look at my page above, and this week, make a page for your children about your husband, then post it on your blog. Simple. It should be one of the easiest layouts you'll ever do, because all you need to complete it, is in your heart. Ready, set, GO!

So how did you do the lettering for the "To the World" quote? Did you find that somewhere or do it yourself?

"germany" Jen - funny! I love this. I was afraid you would have it be about us - yuck. I love this! Thanks for sharing your inspiration!

The large letters are the "Katie" font from Quickutz, and the smaller letters are actually rub-ons, as are the matching letters on the journaling card. There is a funny story that I will tell later, about what Carl said when he saw me doing this page. (we were camping at the time). I'll save it for another day....gotta'keep you coming back for somethin'!

If the 'other' Jen is Germany Jen, then what am I?! :) Fabulous layout...that's a great picture of Carl. I have a few layouts about Nathan, but I should do a new one...and then remember, I have to get a good pic of it and put it on here. I have a few new ones I want to share.

Well smarty pants, she was in Spain, then she moved to Utah or Oregan, one or the other. We're email buddies now, but used to be great scrapbook buddies, used to scrapbook when the hubbies deployed; til midnight; drink Pepsi One (when it was new) and scrap, scrap, scrap, my how time flys...

Wow! Kelly, you are so right, I have several pages of Steve and Delany together but I have a few pages with me. Most of the time I am the one in charge of the camera so I never get to be there. But I will follow your advise and your layout. Great job.

I love that quote. My neighbor just shared that with me the other day.
