House Update...

Okay, Katherine asked for updated pictures of the house, and first I want to say that most of the things I've been doing are unseen things...putting jewelry back in jewelry boxes and getting it out of the ziplocs it's been in since May...restocking the pantry, trying to keep all the toilets and sinks and counters hard water free..a feat in itself if I do say so myself. Whew. Anyway, I snapped a few, just so you can see we are no longer living out of boxes.
Hannah's room is done except for the beaded trim that I've yet to find/buy to sew on the bottom of her curtains. Right now they remain highwaters. For someone who despises any piece of clothing with polka dots on it, I can't fathom why she wants polkadots all over her room.
She moved her "reading area" to the foot of her bead, so that she can prop her feet up and look out the balcony at the horses while she reads. Life of leisure is what I say.

Found these cute adhesive polka dots at Kohls for $9.00 on sale. it pulled the blue nicely from the opposite wall and brought the blah out of the b&w horse pictures that hannah insisted hang above her bed. I'm currently searching online for one more pack to carry the polkadots above the collage.

Here's the other side of the wall, and I forgot, we do have a mirror yet to hang obove the dresser..it's just not out of the closet yet or painted with the famous ORB spray paint. Also, the $3 hanging beaded lamp is way way too high....I know, Carl did that and I haven't had a chance to get a longer hanging thingy for it yet.

I'm not really happy where the grandfather clock ended up, because I had visions of a round table with a lamp on it and it's the perfect spot for a Christmas tree also. For now though, it rests here along with my ficus tree which I have had for 8 years btw and it's survived 3 moves...her name is Winn.

I told Carl to smile. Not sure if he did or not. As soon as Tuesday Morning's gets another shipment of 106" drapes, I'll have curtains in that there living room. What a great place to get fabulous deals.

I still have not commited to the outlet in the center of the floor. The carpet still covers it and the lamp at the end of the couch is still not plugged in. The outlet ended up too far toward the middle of the room, and as long as I never ever move the couch, you'll never see the outlet. If I decide to move it, you'll see the outlet. What's a girl to do? do they make lamps that run on batteries?

I love that dresser with the mirror...it belonged to Carl's great great grandmother. It's always been in the family, it was in his bedroom when he was a kid with socks and such in the drawers, and now I store wrappign paper, ribbon and mailing supplies in it. Last house I hung a black mirror above it, because the current mirror mounted on the back of the dresser, but we put mirror wire on the back and hung it on the wall instead, a little higher than it normally would be...to try to NOT make it look like a dresser in a living room. Please tell me it doesn't look like a dresser in the living room...cause I love it. On it sits my Pottery Barn/Goodwill special replica of an antique phone...yep it really works and ring rings when the phone rings...just like on Archie bunker. Comes in handy when the electricity goes out and the cordless phone doesn't work.

This used to be on my island, but I moved it to the round coffeetable because I didn't know what else to put on it. I hate high stuff on coffee tables. How can you lay on the couch and watch TV if you can't see over a big ole' flower arrangement. I just took a regular $5 wreath from Michaels, wove some fall greenery sticks  around the wreath, then set the apple cart in the middle. Carl said, "what are those? the keys to the apple cart?" I said "yeah they are". lol

Finally got the mirror hung in the "come to Jesus " guest hallway bathroom. That's what we call it because I have my crosses hanging in there, a candle that lights automatically at dusk, and a plaque above the toilet that says 'Amazing Grace'. You can't go in this bathroom as a guest in my house and not see Jesus, so we call it the "come to Jesus room". I love it becase it has all my favorite colors in it.

Love this valance too...Lowes...10% military discount...$17 it was. They sell Waverly, did you know? Love it.

A little cajun heritage in the Master bath...and finally finished replacing all the switchplate covers in the house with oil rubbed bronze. No small feat. The difference it  makes it huge though. So glad I went with brown switches and plug ins...even though the builder thought it was dumb. Pfffft.

And the family Coat of Arms is hung in the master bath above the tub....good a place as any don't you think?
And my burntorange/shimmer/chocolate silk drapes I found at Tuesday Mornings...106" curtains aren't easy to find and I was getting kinda ticked off because I couldn't just go into Target and grab a pair of $24.99 curtains off the rack. I would re-think this if I could re-do the size/length of my windows. I was lucky to find these. I'm holding out for more for the living room. I need to steam them...but I love them. :)

To puddle on the floor...touch the top of the baseboard or graze the floor. I've always leaned toward graze the floor. I hate above the baseboard and the cat would wreak havoc on silk drapes if they puddled. What's your preference? too many dust bunnies here for puddling.

the house from the back fence property line. it's longer up there than it looks...especially when you're riding the John Deere.

The horses are enjoying having the run-in shed to block the wind. The red trim is now painted black.
Maddie is/was not amused by all the packing paper and boxes by week 3 and was ready for me to be DONE unpacking. (that made two of us.)

Sunrises are still breathtaking....
Sunsets are still amazing...

and I'm still taking it all in...

It doesn't look like a dresser at all! When I read that I had to look back at the picture and I said "what dresser?" so don't worry about it. Looks gorgeous!
