This picture takes my breath away.
My baby is in middle school you know. We got ready early, so I took this picture on the patio as she's frantically going through her backpack for the 3rd time. I was missing my pretty flowerbeds to take first day of school pictures in...this rental house is all weedy.
Getting dressed was fun. No uniforms! She said that every day of school was going to be like picture day from now on...looking forward to seeing what everyone is wearing. She was mortified to see mismatched shoes and all sorts of "self-expression" if you know what I mean.
One of her biggest fears was being late to class because she couldn't get her locker open. Psychologists say that one of the most common dreams had by adults is just that...not being able to get your locker open...I told her that and she wasn't amused. I still dream that I've forgotten my locker combination. Carl was giving her a few pointers.
Then she tried it on her own.
I was so excited that she let me pick her outfit and shoes for the first day of school and even more thrilled that she let me paint her toenails. And guess what? We're the same shoe size this year....yikes!
