Backsplash Before & After

I had to seal the stone on the backsplash. Otherwise, behind the cooktop especially, the travertine would get grease spots and stains etc... Well the chick at Lowes talked me into getting the Natural Stone "Enhancement" & Sealer all in one. She said it would bring out the natual color of the stone, and seal it at the same time. Since I had to use stone enhancer on that 12x12 piece of mosaic in the center of my design above the cooktop anyway, I figured if I bought this all in one jug, I'd be saving money...it was $26 for a quart....I know right, more than I'd pay for a fine bottle of wine. What the chick didn't tell me, was that "enhancement" means that it also changes the color of the stone...so here is my travertine backsplash before I put the treatment on it:
This picture was taken before the bronze trim was completely finished, but you get the idea of the color. Bone, right? Check out the after picture...this is two coats...one rubbed on and one sprayed on.

Quite a bit different, huh? All I can say, is that it's a good thing I liked it! I kept waiting on it to dry and get lighter and it never did. It's a warm camel color and that color is the same color as one of the specks in my granite. Whew. Read the label carefully!

This is what I used. Warning, label says "do not drink". just sayin'.

I actually think I like the new color better but, my goodness, that is VERY different! Good thing it didn't turn out ugly.

Wow it is so different! It has more grayish tones now, at least in the photos. Like it though...
