The Horses....

We made 8 moves with a dog and this was our first move with a cat and 2 horses. We didn't know what to expect. They did great. We started the day with a goodbye note on the barn door from Cinch & Star. We will miss they barn. We've had great times at the barn...lots of evenings & hours, and hours, upon hours spent there, chatting and grooming and comparing notes and techniques. Thanks all our barn buddies for everything the past 2+ years, and a special thanks to Paul and Caroline for letting us borrow their trailer to haul our guys up. Here they are loaded and resting. Together, they appear to care less where they are going. Here they are in our friends Helen & Nelson's pasture. We truly have the best friends, by the way, all over the country! The horses unloaded and didn't seem to care where they were. They just wanted water and GRASS.Star is checking the place out, and she's thinking she's been in this state before, and she's right...she was born in Oklahoma, and she was bought in Oklahoma by the people who had her before us. So, in a sense, she's back where she started. Apparently they like well water. It's a good thing too, because that's what we'll have on our land also. It was so cold. They drank and drank. We bought a 100 gallon trough at Tractor Supply and filled it to the tip top on Monday, and by Thursday Evening, it was 6" from the bottom. Thirsty guys! So far, they seem to be enjoying the wind and enjoying being where they are. We are relieved to have this part of the move over.  I don't want to do it again.
Above are Nelson and Helen's horses on the left and Cinch and Star on the right. They are separated by a driveway, a pond and a hotwire fence. (one strand of hot wire for all my barn friends).
