OK! I'm packed...and it all didn't fit in one suitcase. I'm hoping there's room in H's suitcase for some of my stuff! I don't know what to take! Weather in Montana is going to be wonderful (35-40's at night and low to mid 70's during the day) but it makes packing difficult...I figured jeans, long sleeves and a sweatshirt for early morning adventures, and Capri's or shorts for afternoon...I figured we'd just keep our suitcases in our trunk and dig through them and change as the day goes on. Since Yellowstone is so large & the speed limit is so low, it would take too long to go back to the room every time you get the desire to change clothes. Here's Carl's suggestion...and it's such a man answer...just ask a man to solve a "girl" problem for you, and you get a "man" answer. He suggested that I layer my clothes...underwear (obviously), a pair of shorts, jeans, then sweatpants...and as the day goes on, I can peel off the layers...are you stinkin' kidding me? I said "seriously...tell me you're kidding...I do well to get my jeans zipped without anything under them but my drawers, much less a pair of shorts"...and sweatpants over the jeans?...out of the question. What I wanted to ask, is, "and how do you propose I bend my legs, huh?". I'll figure something out, but I won't be taking his advice. Maybe I can sneak some stuff in his suitcase...since he got the big new one. Any packing suggestions out there? And Germany Jen, when you went, what time of year was it and what do I NOT need to miss besides Big Bear Pass and the Tetons?

Wait - I have to stop laughing from the image of you looking like the Michelin tire baby in all those layers.
We traveled through SD-Montana-Wyoming-then to Utah. We were in Marks convertible and had only been married for about 2 years. Clothes were not important "we had each other" ;-)
I know we started out in shorts & Sweatshirts - peeled off the sweatshirts - walked in Yellowstone with jackets around the waist (I had one then) but later we drove in Bear tooth pass and when it started to snow we pulled off at this lil rest area/picture spot and put on jeans & sweatshirts. We lived out of the trunk for the journey. It was September. By the way I don't know about Big Bear Pass but Bear Tooth Pass is awesome.;-) I would plan about half a day to drive that - Yellowstone you will love - then south of Yellowstone are the tetons. Breath taking!!! We stayed on night in Red Lodge Montana. Pretty view. Every thing in that area is gorgeous - you will love it! Take extra memory for your camera. When you can, stop, turn off the engine and listen. Just listen to God's creation and how wonderfully peaceful it is there.
Yeah I can see you tracking around yellowstone barely able to bend from the layers. I think keeping a small bag with alternative clothing available in the car is a good idea. I hope you have a great time.
The layered clothes idea is too funny!!! Let me know when ya'll are leaving. Do you need me to do anything at your house while your gone?
Oh yeah, bless his heart, that WAS definitely a man's answer. I hope you have a great time on your trip!
How funny! I have this packing thing to deal with as well whenever I go back to Cali because the weather is sooo much better there! Just kidding, well, it is, only at certain points in the year, okay anyway. You are going to have to layer, you know this though...wear a capri, jeans too hot, shorts to cold, capri, just right :) and a thinner sweatshirt, then you can maybe fold in down to drape over your purse or even in it, wink wink. Thats all I know about layering, but when it comes to pack ing I'm the queen...I roll my stuff! Yep, little burritos in several rolls, it works like a charm...thats fine, laugh at me, but it gets you past baggage claim okay?! :)
We drove all over Yellowstone on our honeymoon and it was GORGEOUS!! It was May and it snowed on us every day up in the mountains...beautiful weather!! You have to see the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone (or is it of the Tetons?) Anyway, we stopped at every "vista" and just oohed and ahhed! I can't wait to hear how you liked it...have a great time!
FYI, I WAY overpacked. :-)
