Well, I'm notorious for volunteering to send door prizes to the teacher's appreciation lunches at school. Then, I never know what to get or send. This time, I decided to make something. I bought this unfinshed wooden box at Michaels for $2.50 and painted, sanded, distressed, sealed, papered, mod'podged, and embellished it. I used stuff I already had on hand. I think it turned out great, for a first project like that. I can thank "Jen", (new Jen) for getting me on this painting and mod-podging kick. Plus, it's a great way to use up extra scrapbook stuff. The picture doesn't do it justice, but it's black flat, then I sanded the edges of the paint and the paper to distress it. The openings on the sides are for pictures (it's called a photo cube), but I inserted two different patterns of paper; one cork board and one was lined paper (all scrapbook paper). You add photos to the squares. It also opens up...the top comes off and I'm filling it with candy. Also, it's on a turntable thing, so it spins. Now, what can you make for $2.50?Wednesday, September 24, 2008

This is SO cute!!! You are so talented. :)
This turned out so cute! What a creative idea to use that particular cube this way. I like it lots better than the blocks I have because whoever gets it, can just slide the picture in making it easier for gift giving. The teacher that won this is so lucky!
That is adorable!! I love the "I will not hit boys" on the bottom. I know whoever won this was thrilled! Thanks for sharing your idea!
